Apple Crisp
This was from finecooking.com, linked by the Newton Rec department in apple season
Filling:
- About 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, sliced to yield 6 C
- 2 to 3 T brown sugar
- 1/4 t ground cinnamon
- 1 T flour
Topping:
- 1 C flour
- 7 T brown sugar
- 1/2 C finely chopped nuts
- 8 T unsalted butter, cut in small pieces
Heat oven to 350 F
Toss all filling ingredients together in baking dish
Mix topping ingredients in a bowl (e.g. with a pastry blender)
Sprinkle topping over filling
Bake until topping is golden and fruit is bubbling and tender
